What Can Your Employer Monitor On Your Computer?
The answer to this question is...anything! The technology that is available today can and will allow you to monitor just about anything that you can do on the computer, such as:
Internet usage
Software uploads / downloads
Documents and files stored on your computer
Any images that are displayed on your computer screen
How long your computer has been idle
How many keystrokes per hour/minute/second
Emails - outgoing and incoming
What hardware is provided to do your work whether it is a personal computer or a PDA, it can be monitored.. You should check out your company's policy / personal handbook to see what exactly is being monitored. Remember that even though it is not mentioned in the policies doesn't mean it is not being enforced.
