1
Tip of the Week
Internet Explorer offers it's own built in Parental Control features to protect children from forbidden websites, such as pornography and violent websites.
To turn on this Parental Control option:
Open up the Internet Explorer browser On the menu bar at the top Click Tools / Internet Options Select the content tab along the top Click the Enable button Select allowed ratings (or leave it at default for the safest ratings) Click OK Type in password Now that the system is enabled, you can set up advanced options:
Follow the above steps 1 through 4 Click settings Enter your password To change the rating levels (0 is the safest):
Click on one of the words (Language, Nudity, Sex, Violence)
Move the cursor from one level to another Click OK To change password, rating system or viewing options:
Select the General tab Choose the appropriate action Click OK when you're done There is a downside to Internet Explorer's browser controls. Not all sites, even child friendly sites, are registered with the rating systems. Therefore, controls set by you may:
Restrict sites with appropriate content, if they don't have a rating Restrict searches, even on kids' search engines Decrease the "research tool" value of the web These controls will not restrict Instant Messaging
